Candlelight babies is part of the renowned classical music concert series and is designed to be good for your babies brain. The music of the greats like Vivaldi, Debussy, Bach, and more, are performed at baby-friendly sound levels by a string duo in a cozy, movement-friendly space made for you and your little one to enjoy together.

What is Candlelight Babies?
Multiple studies have shown that classical music nurtures creativity, enhances cognitive and emotional growth, and supports early language, motor, and learning skills. An activity that relaxes you, soothes your baby, and helps them learn? Yes, please.
So instead of heading to the park again, why not bring them somewhere they can absorb, engage, and grow? It’s also a great opportunity to meet other parents, and maybe even bond over arriving a little late. Out of respect for the musicians, late entry is only allowed during breaks between songs. To suit shorter attention spans, the concert lasts just 45 minutes and is designed for babies aged 0–9 months. Seating is first come, first served, with a cozy padded area for cuddling and play.
Classical music for babies by Paradiso Strings
At Queensland Multicultural Centre in Kangaroo Point, a violin-and-cello duo performs a programme of Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and Saint-Saëns at baby-friendly sound levels.
The repertoire bridges the gap between concert hall and nursery. Alongside Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Bach’s Air on the G String are “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” and “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.” Mozart’s Ah vous dirai-je, Maman also appears — the melody now instantly recognisable as “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”
Paradiso Strings isn’t short on pedigree. Its violinists and cellists bring experience from conservatoires, orchestras, chamber ensembles, touring, recording and music education, with careers that have taken them across Australia, Europe and Asia. Add performances with leading Australian and international ensembles — plus appearances alongside major contemporary artists — and you’ve got a group that knows how to read the room. Babies, too.

🚄Visitors can reach the venue with a short ferry ride from Eagle Street Pier to Holman Street Ferry Terminal, followed by a brief walk, or by crossing the Story Bridge on foot or by bus.
The result is an unusual sight: live Mozart and Vivaldi by candlelight while some listeners are sitting on laps, others are stretched out on cushions, and a few may be more interested in crawling than applauding.
