Pair a weekend at the wineries with a sleepover in a giant wine barrel. Set to open in October 2022, Barrel View Luxury Cabins offers an Insta-worthy experience for wine enthusiasts alike.
Located in Ballandean, around three hours southwest of Brisbane, these super chic cabins are right on the doorstep of the Granite Belt wine region. This means you can spend the day sampling the local drops before wineing down in your human-sized barrel. Shotgun not being the deso driver.

3. Alure Stanthorpe, Granite Belt
With an exceptionally glam safari-style glamping tent and private luxury split-level villas, Alure is the romantic and adults-only accommodation getaway you’ve been missing. Located on 50 acres, there is privacy and tranquility on the farm. Each accommodation option also comes with an outdoor spa which you can use at night while looking up at the starry night sky.
Alure Stanthorpe is also pet-friendly. However, it’s super popular and winter is almost booked up.
4. 31 The Rocks, Granite Belt
Set yourself up at 31 The Rocks in one of their villas and you’re well on your way to having a romantic weekend away or clear-your-head break from the city. Each villa comes equipped with air-con for the hot summer months but winter is a favourite time of year thanks to the wood-burning fireplace.

With crackling wood fires, luxurious double spas and private barbecue decks, you’re going to be serenaded by your partner in total privacy and seclusion. However, with Kondalilla National Park just 350 metres away you’d be tempted to go out and explore the lush rainforest and stunning waterfalls.
7. Barney Creek Vineyard Cottages, Scenic Rim
Located right on the edge of the world-heritage listed Mount Barney National Park, Barneys Creek Vineyard Cottages is a home-away-from-home weekend escape. Nature is always a showstopper in this part of the world, where in winter you can watch the mist rise up off the lake and the creeks that run through the property while staying warm by the fire.

10. Bethany Cottages, South Burnett
At the top of the hill, Bethany Cottages throws up some of the most spectacular sunset views (all the way out to the Bunya Mountains) you can see anywhere. Located on a working cattle farm, this pet-friendly accommodation option in the South Burnett region also comes with barbecues on the verandahs and fireplaces inside. Our favourite of their four cottages, though, would have to be Tranquility as it’s equipped with a spa on the top level.
11. Nightfall, Scenic Rim
Aside from their warmth, fireplaces are fabulous to look at. And at Nightfall, all of their glamping safari tents come complete with a 360-degree rotating fireplace in the centre. So, no matter where you are relaxing—be it on the king-size beds or lounging in the vintage baths—you can be watching the fire crackle and pop all night long. No expense has been spared at this eco-retreat hidden in a deep gorge escarpment where picnic lunches are packed and organic dinners are prepared with guests preferences in mind.
12. Cloudlake, High Country Hamlets

It’s 30 acres of natural bushland, which is where you’ll find its Timber Cabins complete with log fire peppered throughout. However, you can also find pet-friendly cabins and spa cabins so you can soak in the tub and watch the fire crackle and pop.
14. Witches Falls Cottages, Scenic Rim
Witches Falls Cottages is another adults-only accommodation option all of their rooms come equipped with a double spa, a fireplace and a private outdoor area complete with a barbecue area. The Private Rainforest Spa Cottage is nestled between lush leaves and overgrown shrubs and plants. The spa feels like you’re out in the thick of it thanks to the sliding glass door and glass roof. At less than an hour’s drive from Brisbane, this weekend spa getaway could become a regular feature.
