Jetstar has jumped on the Tasmanian Government’s plans to reopen from 26 October.
South Australians and Queenslanders will have the chance to snap up airfares at sale prices and escape to Tasmania, the land with the world’s cleanest air, with news that Tasmania is easing border restrictions with low-risk Australian jurisdictions.
At this stage, low-risk jurisdictions include SA and QLD as well as WA, the Northern Territory, ACT and possibly NSW—however, NSW is looking less likely at the moment. According to the Tasmanian Government, low-risk jurisdictions will be determined ”based on a number of factors which include the period of time they have gone with low or no numbers of cases and the lack of community transmission occurring in those jurisdictions.”
This means that if SA and QLD continue their good form, then its residents will be free to fly to Tasmania.
To encourage domestic travel, Jetstar’s Tassie Border Sale is seeing flights flogged for as little as $69 if you’re a Jetstar Club member. Otherwise, you’re going to be paying $75 for the Adelaide to Hobart leg, which is still pretty good in our books. Queenslanders will be able to fly from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast and fly to either Hobart or Launceston for the cheap-as-chips price of $99.
The sale, unfortunately, is restricted to travelling within certain dates.
Travel dates for Adelaideans are from 26 October, 2020 – 15 December, 2020 and 12 January, 2021 – 2 February, 2021.
Queenslanders, on the other hand, can travel from 30 October, 2020 – 17 December, 2020 and 7 January, 2021 – 2 February, 2021 (some exceptions).
If you’re keen on visiting The Apple Isle, then you’ll need to be quick as the Tassie Border Sale ends at midnight on Monday, 12 October. In other words, you’ve got the weekend to make up your mind.
