If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant then you’ll know that customers can be incredibly rude, and sometimes when you’re eating out you’ll get a grumpy waiter. To most of us, both scenarios are irritating but soon a place will exist where both parties can really let it rip because the infamous Karen’s Diner has opened its doors at Westfield Chermside.
At Karen’s Diner, you can enjoy delicious burgers with a side of straight-up unfriendly service. Diners are encouraged to ‘complain until the cows come home because we literally don’t care’. Dining should be an experience, but this one is particularly immersive. As soon as you step through those doors you’ll hear more whingeing and see more eye-rolling than you have in your whole life. It’s a great way to really let loose after a day of passive aggression masked as politeness in the office.
Get ready to be flipped off several times (and probably insulted) because the terrible service really is the main attraction. However, the food is pretty tasty too and the dishes have been given some pretty apt names. How about an ‘I Want To See The Manager’ burger alongside a serving of ‘Karen’s Chicken Bingo Wings’?
You’ll find a pretty extensive menu at Karen’s Diner, with a grand total of 11 burgers to choose from, including two vegan burgers. Plus, there’s a selection of tasty sides on offer, including fries, onion rings and chicken wings – typical American diner-style food.
The cocktails are not to be missed either. You can choose from 9 tasty options, including the ‘Sour Karen’, made with amaretto, bourbon and lemon juice, and the ‘The ’90s Karen’, which is essentially a coke ice cream float with rum. If you’re not into cocktails then you can always indulge in one of their thick shakes or an ice cream float.
You find Karen’s Diner at Level 1 of Westfield Chermside, located in the Woolworth’s Food Court. It’s open every day except for Monday from 11.30am – 3pm for lunch, then 5 – 10.30pm for dinner.
