At the beginning of the month, the much-anticipated Bluey LEGO sets were finally released and fans have been buzzing ever since. With sets depicting iconic spots from episodes like The Beach, Ice Cream, and Keepy Uppy, as well as the beloved Heeler family home, there has never been more cause for celebration!
To mark the occasion, Bluey and LEGO have teamed up for a delicious pop-up: an ice creamery in the heart South Bank, which real ones will remember is the setting for the episode Ice Cream. In it, Bluey and Bingo want a lick of each other’s ice cream, but become so fixated on making sure it’s fair that they don’t realise when their ice creams start melting.
The pop-up will give Bluey fans youngest, young and not-so-young the chance to recreate some of episode’s best scenes, and get their hands on some free LEGO ice cream! Which leads us to an important note: there is no edible ice cream available at the pop-up, but you’ll be able to choose your favourite LEGO flavour: strawberry, mango, double chocolate or rainbow.
The giant Bluey and Bingo ready to greet visitors are made up of 29,224 LEGO bricks and 5,306 LEGO DUPLO bricks, respectively, and they took over 190 hours to build, which is the equivalent of watching the whole three series of Bluey ten times back to back!
The pop-up experience was designed with 4+ year-old builders in mind, but builders aged a year and a half to 3 years old will also be able to enjoy the LEGO DUPLO play zone, built with LEGO DUPLO bricks, ensuring a safe creative experience for the youngest ones, which incorporates play through building and dance!
Justine McKenny, Senior Director, Head of Marketing at LEGO Australia and New Zealand, the LEGO Group explained, “The LEGO Bluey Ice Cream pop-up symbolises the endless potential for creativity, imagination and learning through LEGO play. Just like in the episode, where Bluey and Bingo learn a valuable life lesson, kids can keep learning through creative play at home with the new LEGO Bluey sets.”
Best of all, the whole experience is free! All you need to do it get your tickets by scanning the QR code printed onsite at the pop-up. You will then be entered into a virtual queue and can wait for your turn within a 1km radius of the pop-up.
The activation will be open from 10am to 6pm until Sunday, June 8, so scoop up your free tickets while you can!
