Spice lovers to the front: Brisbane’s Burger Urge is turning up the heat in a big way. The Nashville Death Wish is dubbed as the hottest burger in the country, and from what we’ve seen, it certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted.
This fiery fried chicken burger surpasses all previous contenders for the title of the nation’s hottest burger title, and is laced with fiery Aged Moruga Scorpion chilli, known for its sweat-inducing and tear-generating qualities.
Considered one of the hottest chillies in the world, it boasts a scorching 2 million Scoville heat units. Honestly, I’m grimacing just thinking about it.
The brave souls who dare to taste the Nashville Death Wish — also known as Australia’s most unfinishable burger — will need to equip themselves with gloves, safety glasses, and protective gear. Prior to indulging, a safety waiver must, too, be signed.
This spicy AF number features a combination of fried chicken breast, jalapenos, pickles, and crunchy slaw, all smothered in Nashville death sauce.
“This is our 4th attempt at Australia’s hottest burger and over those 5 years, we’ve only ever seen a few crazy souls finish the whole thing, so we’re excited to see which brave Aussies can tackle our hottest burger ever,” says Burger Urge executive chef Joel Chrystal.
“Our last hot burger came in a Scoville level of about 1.5 million, but the Nashville Death Wish seriously ups the ante. It features what we’ve coined as Death Wish Sauce, made in collaboration with award-winning local legends 13 Angry Scorpions. Aged Moruga Scorpion chillies are a whopping 400 times hotter than the average jalapeño, and more than 500 times hotter than Tabasco.”
Holy hell.
The Nashville Death Wish is available from all Burger Urge stores (Kelvin Grove, Windsor, DFO Skygate, Redbank Plains) until July 27.
We wish you all the best.
