The world’s biggest football tournament is just around the corner, and Aussie fans will get to watch and cheer on the Socceroos at the FIFA World Cup from the front row at South Bank!
The amazing World Cup live site at South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt will kick off from Sunday, June 14, when the Socceroos play their first match against Türkiye, and will feature food trucks and a family-friendly atmosphere to go along with live match screenings in one of the city’s most loved destinations.
And that’s just the beginning: the site will also screen the next two Australia matches, plus extended viewing on match days so everyone can enjoy more tournament action throughout the day and soak up the full World Cup buzz! Depending on demand — and, of course, how far we get in the tournament — additional screening days may be added.
As Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner put it, South Bank is the perfect backdrop for Aussies to come together and enjoy the FIFA World Cup: “World Cup fever is coming to South Bank, giving fans and families a free riverside live site to cheer on the Socceroos and enjoy the ultimate fan zone.
“As Australia’s lifestyle capital, Brisbane knows how to turn major sporting moments into city-wide celebrations and South Bank is the perfect place to bring football fans together.
“From lunch by the river to World Cup action on the big screen, we’re encouraging everyone to make a day of it and enjoy the best of Brisbane while backing local business and embracing 50 cent fares.”
This public site will mark the first major FIFA Men’s World Cup fan screenings in Brisbane since the 2022 tournament in Qatar, which saw huge support for the Socceroos across the city as Australia made its deepest run at a World Cup in more than 15 years! We can only hope they make it even farther this year.

The South Bank Cultural Forecourt World Cup site will open on Sunday, June 14 from 7am.
The site is free entry, and fans are encouraged to register their interest to assist with planning and crowd management. You can register for each match day here.
