To add to the many Christmas happenings hitting Brisbane during the festive season comes a first for the city: a floating Christmas light show. The inaugural Christmas Boat Parade is set to cruise along the Brisbane River for one night only, delivering a light display like no other.
The party starts at Northshore Hamilton on Sunday, December 18, where you’ll find a spot on the water and get comfy. From 5pm, the pre-parade entertainment begins. We’re talking live music, carols, photo ops, as well as market stalls you can browse from.
As the sun sets on the river, a slew of boats festooned in Christmas lights and decorations will cruise from Hamilton Reach to Bretts Wharf.
The Brisbane River is an icon of our city, so why not swap out the traditional Christmas light hunt this year for a twinkling spectacular on the waterfront?
If you want to keep the festivities going after the parade, Eat Street is the place to be, with live bands and roving entertainment until 10pm.
The Christmas Boat Parade is BYO and free to attend, however, we recommend registering for a free ticket so you don’t miss out.
You can also hit up the Portside Wharf Twilight Christmas Markets nearby on the same night.
