It’s safe to say there’s not much ALDI won’t try. In the past, we’ve seen the supermarket giant come out with things such as French cheese fondue kits, hot cross bun flavoured gin and volcanic rock indoor plants, just to name a few. Now, ALDI had made its very own limited-edition dupe of the wildly popular Caramilk chocolate.
At just $2 a block, Dairy Fine’s Caramel Chocolate is a mix of white chocolate and caramel, just like its OG counterpart. However, since its release, the new chocolate certainly has shoppers divided.
On an ALDI Facebook group, some who tried the new chocolate said that it tastes “just as good”, whereas others say that it’s worth trying, but that it doesn’t compare to the real thing. Some are also just dedicated to the OG Caramilk and would “prefer one block of real Caramilk to any dupe, no matter the price.”
One veteran ALDI shopper who reviews items from the budget supermarket, says that “the chocolate is smooth and creamy. And the taste? You get white chocolate followed by a very subtle caramel flavour. Not quite as good as the OG.”
So as we can see, a bit of a mixed response so far. The only way to settle it is to head down to your local ALDI and try the new chocolate yourself. However, you’ll want to be quick, because this choccy has proved mighty popular so far.
