Black Hide is well-known and renowned for its steaks. The restaurant at Treasury Brisbane has won Queensland’s best steak restaurant for three years running thanks to Executive Chef Thomas Mumford and its world-class Australian Wagyu and Angus steak cuts. But not content on serving up the same over and over again, the restaurant has revitalised its menu with a number of new dishes with a nod to the warmer weather.
Black Hide Menu Additions
According to Mumford, it’s ”the biggest change we’ve done in a long time”, which is bound to turn some heads. The new menu features a number of seafood dishes including a Hiramasa Yellowtail Kingfish with fermented chilli, sesame and crème Fraiche as a starter as well as scallops with orange and saffron butter and toasted pistachio.
A spanner crab and sweetcorn tortellini with a delicious shellfish bisque has also found its way onto the menu alongside lighter dishes like the heirloom
tomato salad with fennel, labneh and oregano, or the smoked carrots with tarator, pomegranate and almond, and spiced eggplant with garlic yoghurt and coriander.
The dessert menu sees a coconut parfait with pineapple salsa and Vietnamese mint granita added into the mix while the cocktail menu has been given a once over as well. A range of new cocktails has been created by the bartending team at Black Hide with help from Mumford, who has given each a chef twist, to properly accompany the new dishes.
Black Hide Degustation Menu
If you’ve got time midweek, then Black Hide’s new Degustation Lunch Menu is a must to put on your to-do list. Affordable yet indulgent, the lunch begins with a tomato carpaccio with labneh, olive crumb and oregano, before you get to make a choice for your mains between a Wagyu MB 5+ rump cap, Gambaro’s daily fish or free-range pork belly served with baby gem salad and chimichurri.
Choosing won’t be easy but at $79, the degustation menu, which is completed by a sorbet with grilled stone fruit and cantucci, is competitively priced and could easily be enjoyed more than once.
Black Hide Steaks
It’s an exciting time at Black Hide, but loyal and regular diners will be keen on hearing that the famed steaks not only remain but are still the number one priority in the kitchen. Mumford wants people to leave Black Hide having had the best steak of their lives, and with 15 cuts on the menu ranging from a marble score of 3+ to 9+ you’re well on course to eat a perfectly-executed steak.
Black Hide By Gambaro at Treasury Brisbane
“I can’t wait to welcome diners to Black Hide, for them to try the new menu and of course, to have a memorable experience. There’s a lot of new dishes on the menu and things we haven’t done before,” says Executive Chef Thoman Mumford.
