Due to growing demand, both from business and leisure travellers — last year was Brisbane Airport’s busiest year ever, with 25 million passengers travelling through its terminals — and with the 2032 Olympic Games on the horizon, Brisbane Airport will be getting two new hotels.
These will be in addition to the existing three hotels, the Novotel Brisbane Airport, and ibis Brisbane Airport, and the Pullman Brisbane Airport, which are often at capacity. The latter was recently named the Best Airport Hotel in Australia and Pacific in the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards, for the fifth time in six years!
One of the two new offerings will link directly to the international terminal, and be attached to a new multi-level carpark, while the other will be positioned next to the DFO Stargate and entertainment precinct Lander’s Pocket, thus covering guests with both practical and leisurely needs.
Brisbane Airport executive general manager commercial Scott Norris explained how these new accommodations would offer key advantages both to qualified hotel operators, and to travellers: “Long-term, Brisbane requires thousands of new hotel rooms ahead of the 2032 Olympics and so we’re highly confident the airport can support five hotels.
“Brisbane Airport links to more domestic destinations than anywhere else in Australia allowing operators to tap into built-in, year-round demand that provides long-term value.”
All that’s missing now is experienced managers that can take on the properties and, to this end, JLL Hotels and Hospitality have launched the Hotel Operation selection, with proposals due by May 15.
This is in addition to the Airport’s ongoing renovations ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games, with the international and domestic terminals getting several upgrades, including new screening equipment, more efficient entrances, and even repurposed artwork, over the course of the next eight years.
