We all love a beach, of course! But with the cossie livs being what it is, and our busy schedules sometimes making it hard for us to travel far, sometimes you need an affordable solution closer to home. That’s where these amazing swimming pools come in: fitness classes, onsite cafés and even waterslides, check out these Council pools for the perfect family day out!
Centenary Aquatic Centre & Health Club
One of Brisbane’s largest aquatic centres, Centenary Pool is home to a 50-metre outdoor swimming pool, a heated indoor pool and a 25-metre heated outdoor pool. As its name indicates, there is also an on-site health club so you can get your sweat on before going for a dip!
With a wading pool and diving boards for the little ones and a pool deck café, there is something to keep everyone happy this summer!

Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre

This charming centre is perfect for a family-friendly outing! It has a large grassy area where you can set up a picnic — there are barbecues available for use or a café if you don’t feel like cooking — as you watch the younger ones splash about in the heated pool, or you can join an aerobics class yourself!

Hibiscus Sports Complex
It’s never too cool for a swim at Hibiscus Sports Complex because in addition to their outdoor 50-metre pool, the centre offers not one, but two indoor heated pools: a smaller one for beginners and a 25-metre one.
There’s also a health and fitness club, so you can go through your entire fitness routine in one place. And, in the summer, there’s a special treat for the kids: a water play area and a 20-metre tall waterslide!

Ithaca Pool
Ithaca Pool’s unbeatable location in shady Paddington, with plenty of cafés and bars just a pleasant stroll away, and opposite Suncorp Stadium already make it stand out among the rest.

Although currently closed due to storm damage, Jindalee Pool will soon reopen and go back to offering a heated, 18-metre indoor pool for lap swimming, and outdoor 50-metre pool and, best of all for those of us who like to do as much lounging as we do swimming, shaded leisure areas and a café, where you can keep an eye on the kids as they splash in the water play area.
📍11 Yallambee Rd, Jindalee
Manly Pool
A kiosk, an onsite gym, swim lessons, triathlon training and, of course, a 25-metre outdoor pool, are just some of the things that Manly Pool has to offer. Summer is the best time to go, as the kids can take advantage of the fenced splash pool, wading pool and waterslide!
