If even the mention of the words “w-a-l-k” or “p-a-r-k” are enough to throw your household into chaos, you understand the need for a good-sized space where your pups can let out all their energy, socialise with other dogs and even work on their obedience and skills. From parks with agility courses to expansive off-lead green spaces, there’s something for every doggy to love!
Faulkner Park
A placid spot that’ll still have your pups racing around, Faulkner Park is the perfect shady space for a chill walk and a coffee — for the humans, at least — with gorgeous views of the Brisbane River. There is also exercise equipment and a basketball court, so your dog won’t be the only one getting a workout!
📍80 Waratah Avenue, Graceville
Kedron Brook Floodway
Step one if you’re planning to visit this wonderful green space is being certain of your dog’s obedience, as the area is unfenced and off-lead. If you feel safe, this is one of the most fun dog areas, following the waterway for several kilometres and allowing your pup to take a dip and splash around once it’s panting from running around. Be aware of the signage, as there are also some restricted spaces in the park, such as the bike path.
📍11 Johnston Street, Gordon Park
Elanora Park
No dog park — or regular park, for that matter — list would be complete without mentioning Elanora Park. This massive green space, replete with bike tracks and shady boardwalks also features off-leash areas for your pups to stretch their legs, and then some!
📍74A Wynnum North Esplanade, Wynnum
Downfall Creek Dog Park
This scenic four-hectare park in the north of the city offers not just heaps of running-around space, but also dog bins, water taps and a chance for pups to cool off in the creek’s refreshing waters! And, thanks to its somewhat removed location, it’s an ideal spot for off-leash walks and playing.
📍59 Brickyard Rd, Geebung
Crosby Park
A green oasis in the middle of Albion, Crosby Park features an off-leash area with sectioned areas to separate bigger dogs from small ones, plus long walkways to get lost in with your pup and spaces for both you and your furry friends to get some exercise.
📍103 Crosby Road, Albion
Kroll Gardens
This dog-friendly park on the Redcliffe Peninsula — which is also near a dog beach in case your pup needs to cool off after running around — is for the zoomiest dogs. With a whopping five hectares of running space, this off-lead park has an agility course with tyres, pipes and ramps, so you can test your pup’s skills and tire them out. And don’t worry if you have a smaller or a shy dog, there is also a fenced-off section where they can play to their furry hearts’ content.
📍Duffield Road, Clontarf
Sunset Park
On the skirts of Taylor’s Range sits one of the biggest dog parks in Brisbane, and while the stunning views are a bonus for humans, more importantly, it offers plenty of space for furry ones of all sizes to run around, test their agility skills and make new friends! There is even a separate fenced-off area for smaller dogs, so every pup can feel safe and have fun.
📍30 Monoplane St, Ashgrove
Powerhouse Park
How about a park that has as much to offer to owners as it does to their pooches? Powerhouse Park’s excellent location — on the River, next to cafés and beautiful jacarandas — ensures no species can get bored there. With dog-friendly Jan Powers Farmers Market being held there every Sunday and plenty of arts and cultural events regularly happening around the area, you and your furry babies are bound to have a wag-tastic day!
📍133 Lamington Street, New Farm
Colmslie Recreation Reserve
Eastside doggies will love this huge, off-leash space, where they can play and paddle in the river to cool off. And they can test their skills and show off to new furry friends with the agility equipment too!
📍Col Gardner Drive, Morningside
GJ Walter Park
A wonderfully panoramic spot is an ideal area for a bit of canine fun, as it’s only half fenced-off and lets pups roam freely off-lead. If you’ve got human babies as well as fur babies, you’ll be happy to know there’s also a playground for the little ones.
📍72 Shore St E, Cleveland
Green Hill Park and Reservoir
As you may have gathered from the name, this space offers some of the most stunning views in Brisbane when it comes to dog parks. It’s off leash, so make sure your pooch has good recall before letting them off it. Its well-defined paths are also perfect for a run with your best pal!
📍278 Russell Terrace, Chapel Hill
Victoria Dog Park
Victoria Park truly has it all and a dog park is no exception. With a fenced-off area, a section for smaller dogs and agility equipment, the space has everything you and your pooch need for a lively day out. The nearby picnic tables, barbecue and playground mean everybody gets to jump in on the fun!
