Start practising your catwalk, because the 20th edition of the Brisbane Fashion Festival, Queensland’s Premier Fashion Event, is strutting its stuff from August 24 to August 29.
With an undeniable place on the Australian fashion calendar as the seasonal debut for Spring/Summer collections, this chic celebration showcases everything from favourite local designers to leading industry names and most highly anticipated emerging talents.
Since its beginnings, the Brisbane Fashion Festival has been laser-focused on supporting the local fashion industry, giving designers a significant platform to showcase their work and connecting them directly with consumers, media, and industry representatives.
By showing collections at the same time as they land in-stores and online, and alongside established brands, fashion lovers inspired by the show can purchase their favourite looks fresh from the runway, giving local brands a visibility and sales boost, and attendees the chance to get their hands on the very newest trends, fresh off the runway!
Last year alone, 51 designers showcased more than 500 new-season outfits, so you know there’s something for every style, from the adventurous to the classic and everything in between. And, in an industry with a 77% female workforce, the Festival also takes care to shine a spotlight on issues such as female empowerment, sustainability, gender fluidity and neutrality, diversity, and fashion inclusivity for all.
This year’s jaw-dropping Resort Show — the opening of the Festival — will take place on none other than the Kangaroo Point Bridge, whose commanding views and location will highlight and enhance the beauty of the designers’ creations.
Want to take your new wardrobe out for a test drive? Well, you’re in luck because the Brisbane Fashion Festival has plenty of off-runway events in which to see and be seen. From fabulous, champagne-soaked brunches to a dazzling culinary and fashion experience at celebrity chef Shane Delia’s acclaimed restaurant Layla, you’ll want to be dressed to the nines to be on cloud nine.
Plus, from Tuesday, August 26 to Thursday, August 29, their glamorous pop-up bar The EPICURE Fashion Bar will be serving up a selection of wines, beers, signature cocktails and grazing boards, garnished with the hottest fashion gossip.
