Running: whether you love it or love to hate it, it’s undeniably having a bit of a moment, with some even swearing by running clubs as an alternative to dating apps for meeting that special someone.
So, whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to break records, trying your hand — or rather, feet — at a shorter distance, or even just looking to have a nice walk or a day out with the family, the EVA Air Brisbane Marathon Festival has an event for you on June 1.
Celebrating its 33rd year, this is one of the oldest and most friendly events on the Australian running calendar, attracting thousands of participants from over 35 countries annually. In fact, it’s often labelled the “boutique” marathon of choice, in part due to the wonderful treatment all participants receive. It is, of course, an internationally-recognised event and is accepted as a Boston Marathon qualifier, plus simply a great way to encourage the community to get out and be active!
Marathon Festival Events
- EVA Air Brisbane Marathon (42.2km)
- BHP Half Marathon (21.1km)
- ON 10km
- Oaks 5km Run
- 5km Walk
- Macca’s 2km Mini Marathon
The Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km also offer a cash prize to male and female competitors — in equal amounts — who place either 1st, 2nd or 3rd, plus an extra incentive to the overall winner if they complete the course in the times specified for each event.
Entry fees for the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km include a race bib — which you can personalise with your name up until April 21 — a timing tag, an event t-shirt and, of course, a finishers medal so you can show off your accomplishment!
The majority of proceeds from entry fees go towards Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland, which provides essential accommodation and support services for seriously ill children and their families, so you’ll be running or walking for a good cause.
