Brisbane is the perfect home base for outdoor lovers — here, we’re surrounded by charming country towns, postcard-worthy beaches, idyllic swimming holes, and more. We’re also a stone’s throw from Australia’s longest rail trail, which can be completed more easily than ever thanks to a new four-day cycling experience.
Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, which stretches 161 kilometres from Yarraman to Wulkuraka (close to Ipswich), is the longest rail trail in Australia, and follows a disused rail line that hasn’t had a train on it since 1993.
While you can choose your own adventure and take on the trail at your own pace, this new self-guided experience by World Expeditions includes accommodation in historic towns such as Linville and Esk, bike hire and luggage transfers between each stop.
Revel in the fresh air on this multi-day adventure, where you’ll cycle through sweeping valleys and farmlands set against a backdrop of rugged mountains and forests.
The route will also take you past some of South East Queensland’s best country bakeries and pubs, so plan a stop at the likes of Blackbutt Bakery or The Linville Hotel.
