Each year, Brisbane Writers Festival brings readers and writers together to celebrate the wonder of the written word. From intimate author readings to thought-provoking panel discussions, this festival serves as a nexus where book enthusiasts converge.
The 2025 edition of Brisbane Writers Festival will run from Thursday, October 9 to Sunday, October 12, with the events taking place at different spaces within Brisbane Powerhouse, including author talks, panel discussions, special events and workshops.
A diverse array of legendary authors hailing from Brisbane and Queensland, like Andrew Stafford, Steve MinOn, Trent Dalton, and more feature on the program, sharing the spotlight with a star-studded lineup of national and international guests.
This year’s Australian headline authors include Michael Robotham, Sheila Fitzpatrick, Anita Heiss, Helen Garner, Fiona McIntosh, Di Morrissey, David Stratton, Anne Summers, and Charlotte Wood, who will be joined by international superstars such as Pulitzer Prize finalist Sophie Gilbert, bestselling page-turner writer Callie Hart, award-winning journalist Maggie Jackson, fantasy queen Helen Scheuerer, and epic American novelist Eric Puchner.
Other highlights include a conversation with Formula One engineer turned founder of beloved Lune Croissanterie, Kate Reid, and curated events and talks showcasing First Nations storytellers, like Nardi Simpson and Debra Dank.
This year’s BWF is shaping up to be the best yet, with Artistic Director Jackie Ryan jokingly saying, “The word ‘community’ gets bandied around a lot, but a small not-for-profit like BWF can only wrangle something of this magnitude with the help of hundreds of people, […] Maybe you all owe me an apology for pitching in and helping us deliver this magnificent beast of a program! Enjoy being spoilt for choice in the meantime.”

This year’s Brisbane Writers Festival will take place from October 9 to October 12 from 9:30am to 9:30 pm.
Tickets to regular sessions are $29.90, and a 4-event bundle is $100. Other events vary in price and there are even some free sessions!
