If you’re looking for authentic French pastries in South Bank, C’est du Gâteau has just arrived in town. The new bakery on Grey Street is run by Seb and Fred, who are French pastry chefs with over 15 years of experience in high-end patisseries and hotels across Europe.
C’est du Gâteau, which translates to “it’s a piece of cake”, specialises in fresh-baked classics such as tartlets, almond croissants and pain au chocolat, as well as signature savoury numbers such as 12-hour slow-cooked barbecued pulled pork and caramelised onion croissants, and a packed Reuben croissant with layers of pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, dijon and seeded mustard.
The elegant open design of the store gives you the chance to take a peek inside, and not just at the pastries and cakes in the window, but also at the baking magic happening in the back.
You can find C’est du Gâteau at 182 Grey St, South Brisbane. It’s open daily from 6am – 3pm.
