Thanks to its viral coffee doughnuts and 1kg doughnut challenge, Kenilworth Bakery has become a go-to spot on a day trip from Brisbane. After opening a second store in Mooloolaba in 2022, the bakery is now expanding to Bribie Island, with a planned opening in late 2023.
If the Bribie Island store is anything like its predecessors, you can expect plenty of drool-worthy doughnuts, pies and other baked goods.
The legends at Kenilworth Bakery have also told us that their 1KG doughnuts will be sold at the new spot, as well as their coffee served inside a doughnut. Yep, you read that right: fresh barista coffee poured inside a sugary doughnut, which you can sip on and then eat afterward. You might be thinking: wouldn’t the whole thing get all soggy? No, it doesn’t, because the inside of the doughnut is lined with chocolate spread, keeping the coffee from soaking into the dough. Smart idea, delicious idea.
If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can pre-order a 1KG doughnut. And if you can eat it in one sitting, you’ll get your money back as well as a personalised signed plate that will get hung up on the bakery wall.
Renovations are currently underway at the new space, so there’s no exact opening date as of yet.
