It’s this time of year that Brisbane begins to get excited about winter, and after all, you’ve got to celebrate every season in style, right? Well, you can certainly do that at this winter-themed bar at Customs House on Queens Street, river and Story Bridge views included.
The igloo bar is made up of several, spacious igloos, furnished with comfy chairs covered in gorgeous furry blankets for you to snuggle up to. If that didn’t sound tempting enough, there will be plenty of Veuve Clicquot champagne flowing, and you can buy it by the glass, bottle, or magnum. We know which we’d go for (don’t judge us).
They will also have heaps of fantastic Australian, New Zealand and French wines. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail there’s one that sounds particularly delicious named Berries & Bubbles, mixed up with lemon juice, raspberry, Belvedere Pure and, of course, topped off with Veuve Clicquot champagne. Mmmmmm.
Then there’s the food, and my god does it sounds good. There will be Moreton Bay bug croissants with lime and dill mayo, a whole baked brie, mac and cheese croquettes with truffle aioli, as well as rabbit rillettes. Plus, loads and loads of cheeses from Britain, Australia, and Italy, because obviously, every occasion calls for cheese.
All in all, an igloo for 6 – 10 people will cost you $80 per person, and you can book online. They’re open Thursdays and Fridays from 4 pm and on weekends they’re open longer, from 1 pm.
These magical igloos await you from May 13 at Patina Customs House, 399 Queen St, Brisbane City and they’re only here for the winter season.
