You may have noticed Santa’s gigantic Little Helpers taking over South Bank recently. These charming, 5-metre elves have a story to share and magic to spread from Streets Beach to River Quay and even the balcony of QPAC.
Causing mischief along iconic locations across the precinct, the twelve elves each have their own personality and charm, and you have until January 5 to spot them all! If you head down to South Bank you can pick up a map, go looking for them, take an ‘elfie with each one and simply soak up the festive atmosphere as you wander the precinct, lawns and riverfront.
Other than these lager-than-life inflatable sculptures, there’s plenty of other Christmassy magic going on in the area, with something for everyone to have a jolly family day out!

What to expect
In partnership with Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF), Rainforest Green is transforming into a hidden open-air cinema, screening everything from all-time Christmas classics like The Muppet Christmas Carol to more modern festive comedies, such as The Night Before.
What would a Christmas celebration be without the man himself? Luckily, you don’t have to find out because Santa is making his favourite Queensland stop once again, with a distinctly Australian backdrop. You can book a personalised session with him, share your wish list and, of course, take home a treasured photo of your encounter with Santa. Even furry friends are welcome on his lap!
If you’re the artsy type and love a good tale, you have to join Mrs. Claus at one of her daily storytelling sessions — including the giant elves’ origin story! — which are followed by a festive craft workshop, where the little ones can make everything from stockings to colourful seasonal keepsakes.
And, alongside this flurry of festive activities, Little Stanley Street will turn into a glowing festive village, complete with handcrafted gifts, jewellery, toys, homewares and gourmet treats, perfect for those last-minute pressies, or simply for a stroll among the fairy lights.

Practical information
The giant elves will be causing playful chaos around South Bank until January 5, and the elf map is free.
Lost Worlds Cinema: Most Wonderful Time of the Year will be lighting up Rainforest Green from December 15 to December 23. Tickets are $15 per child and $30 for a family pass. You can get yours and see the full program here.
Santa Photos will take place from December 12 to December 23. For $30 you get a session and 5 photos. Book your spo-ho-ho-t here!
Meanwhile, Mrs. Claus’ storytelling and crafts will run on the same dates for free, no booking required, as will Little Stanley Street’s Collective Markets: Christmas Edition, so you can procrastinate your present-buying right up until the last minute — not that we’d recommend that.
