What if flowers never faded? Immersive artist CJ Hendry gives a colourful answer with her stunningly vibrant Flower Market installations. The activation, which now has a permanent store in SoHo thanks to its popularity, is bringing its plushy blooms to Brisbane!
Brisbane-raised Hendry’s installations tend to feature hundreds of types of flowers, in a myriad of hues and surreal sizes. Recently, the Flower Shop took over the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, with a huge selection of faux flowers at $5 apiece — plus a free one on arrival — including classics as well as Australia-native blooms like wattle and gum nuts!
Naturally, expectations for the pop-up were sky high, with some people even travelling from other states to snag some of the coveted blooms. However, there’s been an unfortunate development. Although the Flower Market Brisbane Pop-up was planned for June 25, the Market’s official Instagram posted a last minute update, postponing the opening, saying: “We will be delayed opening by a day or two.
“Sometimes shit happens and shit certainly happened trying to get this open on time.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep you updated with our new opening date.
“We are looking forward to seing you all very soon.”
The new opening date is TBD, so keep an eye on their Instagram for updates.
When it does open, the Pop-up is expected to be free entry — so brace yourself for long queues! — and flowers will be sold at $10 each, with your 10th stem being free!
Practical information
The CJ Hendy Flower Market Brisbane Pop-up will run from a TBD date in June until Sunday, July 12. It is unknown yet if the dates could be extended to make up for the delay.
It will run every day from 10am to 6pm, and it’s free entry.
