Calling all adrenaline junkies, nature lovers, and those who want to feel alive! Happitat, the world’s first cliff park, is set to open at Binna Burra on Saturday, January 10, and if the pictures are anything to go by, it’ll be absolutely thrilling.
A short 1.5-hour drive from Brisbane, nestled in lush Lamington National Park, Happitat blends all the best of nature and daring capers, including zip lines, suspension bridges, via ferrata climbs, rainforest walks and swimming holes.
And worry not: the thrills will all be under control and you’ll be in safe hands. Founded by conservationist, alpine adventurer and ex-professional snowboarder Michael Neururer, the park encompasses the best of connecting with nature and all the safety measures that you need to take fun risks.
Neururer was inspired by his adventures all over the world, bringing the opportunity for daring activities to Aussies without the need to travel abroad. As he puts it, “In a single day, visitors can experience climbs and activities that would normally require travelling to different destinations.
“Happitat invites people into the raw beauty of nature, where testing your limits helps you rediscover your connection to yourself and the environment. When people feel connected to nature, they’re more compelled to protect it, and that is a big part of what we’re all about.”

The experience begins with The Arete Via Ferrata Climb, where you can step over the edge for an ascent across an 80-metre bridge that’ll have your heart racing as you move through tightropes and timber crossings suspended high above the valley.
From there, fly down Total Exposure, the park’s longest and highest zipline, which glides a breathtaking 200 metres above Lamington National Park. And the zipline fun doesn’t end there: next, you can take Next, on The Overhang Zipline Course which, with its stunning views of waterfalls and rugged cliff faces, will chase any fear you had away.
For something more chill, you can slow your heartrate down at The Edge Park Explorer, wandering along shaded bush trails, dipping into crystal-clear natural pools and take in sweeping views from a 12-metre platform suspended 400 metres above the valley floor.
The park is not only committed to offering a once-in-a-lifetime journey through one of Queensland’s most remarkable natural landscapes, but also to restoration and environmental care, investing more than $1 million in this cause, stabilising bushfire-affected cliffs, planting native species and implementing a zero-waste operational system.
Keep an eye out for updates, because the project will incorporate a café celebrating local produce with a side of panoramic views in the second half of 2026.
