Ex-Cyclone Alfred tore through Queensland last weekend, leaving severe flooding and considerable damages behind, although the storm luckily downgraded before making landfall.
Now, with everyone coming together and doing their best to help with clean-up efforts, some companies are also pitching in in different ways.
DoorDash
DoorDash’s Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund is offering support to restaurants impacted by the storm due to its Severe Weather Protocol and suspension of operations across parts of SEQ. In partnership with Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), the fund offers $15,000 grants to help local restaurants cover vital expenses.
To apply for relief, restaurants must have between one and three brick and mortar locations, fewer than 50 employees per location, have been open for at least 6 months, be independently owned, and have been impacted by an eligible state or federally-declared natural disaster.
Applications for the grant must be submitted by May 30 here.
BrewDog
BrewDog, the beloved craft beer brewery is offering a free parmy and a pint for QLD Energex workers as a thank you for their hard work, turning the power back on for 300,000 homes after ex-Cyclone Alfred. All staff can enjoy these treats on the house at their Murarrie or Fortitude Valley locations until 11pm on Sunday, March 16.
Cheers to that!
Wendy’s
Following the successful opening of their first Australian store, which fired up the grill in January this year on Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise, Wendy’s is offering free medium combos — consisting of burger or chicken, fries and a drink — to all Queensland emergency responders. In gratitude for keeping everyone safe and sound, emergency responders need only visit Wendy’s in uniform or show their ID at the counter to get free lunch or dinner until midnight on Sunday, March 16.
Thank you and bon appetit!
