Until Thursday, October 2, Brisbane Quarter becomes even friendlier and more colourful than usual as it welcomes internationally acclaimed artists Craig & Karl for Brisbane Festival 2025!
We’re all itching for the festival to start in earnest, but if you want a little taste of what’s to come, head up to the Atrium on Podium level 1 and check out Matey’s: Diny & George, a bold new installation by the world-renowned creative duo!
Presented as part of the Craig & Karl: Public Art Trail for Brisbane Festival, Matey’s: Diny & George joins a citywide takeover of the artists’ signature bright and playful inflatables, energising Brisbane with colour, movement, and joy.
The Matey’s embody Craig & Karl’s most celebrated strenghts: simplified geometric forms, expressive features, and bold patterns that capture shifting moods and transform public spaces. The adorable Diny and George serve as companions for the community, sparking connection and delight while inviting all who experience the piece to participate in the festival in new ways.
Craig & Karl, in collaboration with digital artist David McLeod, have also created an immersive animation that reflects the vibrancy of Brisbane Festival. Inspired by the city’s defining qualities, from the river and sunshine to culture and community, the piece brings together abstract shapes and dynamic motion to echo the festival’s diverse program of music, dance, art, performance, and spectacle!
The piece is free to view and is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, and while you’re at Brisbane Quarter, you can discover some of the world-class dining options within the precinct, from iconic yum cha at Brisbane Phoenix or the famous Kung Tung at Phat Boy!
