The newest shipping container experiences from British immersive-theatre production company Darkfield with help in Australia from Realscape Productions are Coma and Eulogy. Alongside the original shipping container experiences Séance and Flight, they will be popping up in Melbourne first from May 26 to July 31, then Brisbane and Sydney at a later date.
Step into the white shipping containers, put on headphones and be enveloped in darkness. Your other senses heighten and the narrative experience, which uses binaural audio, sensory deprivation and special effects, takes you on a journey that feels real. So real that you might want out.
Darkfield’s audio experiences
Coma
Lay flat on your back on your own bunk bed, take a pill and wake up because your dream is starting. Darkfield questions what horrors hide in the deepest, darkest recesses of your mind and can you be saved?
Eulogy
Can you imagine a hotel? Do you see it in your mind? What you see is different from the person next to you, but even still you’ll both be walking down the hall, into the lift and through the canteen and in-between floors, even deeper into the dream that is really an embodied human conscious experience.
Flight
How would you feel if mid-flight the cabin of the aircraft you’re flying in loses air pressure? Find out in Flight.
Séance
A séance without the séance where your beliefs will be questioned and your sense of reality tested.
Darkfield hasn’t announced its Brisbane dates as of yet, but you can stay updated here.
