Over two weekends in May and June, Howard Smith Wharves is set to become a hub for all things Italian. Whether it be pasta, vino, classic aperitivos, you name it, you’ll find it at Festa Italiana, which is returning to the riverside spot’s Main Lawn from May 23 to 26 and May 30 to June 2.
Time to live out your European fantasies without leaving Brisbane.
We recommend bringing your appetite to this market, where you can expect to be spoiled for choice with Italian food stalls galore.
Indulge in an array of Italians eat such as freshly made pasta cooked at a live station, buffalo mozzarella from Brisbane’s own Casa Motta, plus woodfired bread, fritto misto, creamy gelato, and more.
Sydney chef Orazio D’Elia from Bondi Italian restaurant Da Orazio is bringing up his culinary skills for the occasion as guest chef, serving up his famous vodka rigatoni as well as the fan-favourite focaccia con porchetta – plated up fresh from the rotisserie with chilli marinated grilled eggplant, cos lettuce, and mayonnaise.
As we know, Italy is all about the vino and aperitifs, and Festa Italiana certainly won’t be lacking in either. Be transported to famous wine regions such as Tuscany and Campania as you find a spot on the lawn to enjoy a bite, a bevvy, and some Italian-inspired live music.
The event is free to attend and is both family-friendly and pet-friendly.
