We’re right in the middle of the delicious hot cross bun season, and if you’re a fan of these seasonal treats, we’ve got some great news for you. Bakers Delight is giving away over 150,000 buns across the country as part of National Hot Cross Bun Day. Over 500 bakeries around Australia will be giving away 300 hot cross buns on Friday, March 13. It’s first come, first served, so if you’re keen, you better be quick!
Free hot cross buns from Bakers Delight
After an overwhelming response at their inaugural event last year, Bakers Delight is making this giveaway an annual tradition. They will be handing out buns in either Traditional, Choc Chip or Apple & Cinnamon to the first 300 customers through the door. No purchase is required, so you can snag your treat guilt-free.

“Last year’s National Hot Cross Bun Day exceeded all our expectations,” said Jodi Murray-Freedman, Chief Marketing Officer. “We had queues out the door before opening and the energy was incredible.”
Between January and April, this bakery chain makes about 18 million hot cross buns. During Easter week, 4.2 million buns will be baked around the country – roughly seven buns a second.
To meet demand, they will use about 66 tones of chocolate chips, 105 tonnes of sultanas, 75 tonnes of currents and 27 tonnes of Pink Lady apples.
