If you love Japanese food as much as we do, then you’re going to want to add this new restaurant opening to your list. Set in a green open-air space above West Village, Ippin offers a traditional Japanese dining experience on the second floor of the Garden Pavilion.
Slated for an April 2023 launch, this luxe 140-seater is expected to be a trip to Japan without leaving the city, from the aesthetically pleasing Japanese decor to the impressive dishes and sake selection.
As for food, you can expect exquisite eats such as yakitori grill, toothfish, wagyu beef and tempura cuttlefish as well as lobster popcorn and a small selection of desserts.
While the seafood and meat will be mostly sourced locally in Queensland, some of the products will come from Japan, to bring the finest and most authentic ingredients to the menu.
The drinks menu will be curated to complement the food offering, so think sake, cocktails, premium wines and spirits.
If jaw-dropping food shows are your thing, head chef Tatsuya Miwa will be doing whole tuna cuttings in the restaurant and auctioning it off to ticket winners.
There are also two open-air private dining areas that can be booked for 10-12 guests. These nooks overlook the stunning greenery of The Common, so it’d be a perfect spot to hang out with your co-workers for Friday afters or for a special occasion with a group of friends.
