If you’re after an authentic Japanese dining experience, then you need to check out this new restaurant in the city. Izakaya Publico is tucked away inside Hotel Indigo and is accessed via a hidden entrance.
This stunning eatery offers up a true slice of Japan, from the interiors to its food and drink. Dramatic murals bring the space to life the moment you walk in, as does the journey to get there.
The food menu is designed to share, and you can expect Japanese favourites with a contemporary twist. Think nori tacos, sashimi omakase, as well as a generous range of skewers and coal-grilled eats.
Save some room for dessert with a decadent cheese tart, baked fresh daily. They’re also serving up chocolate takoyaki and house made ice cream.
To get to Izakaya Publico, you’ll need to head through the hotel’s speakeasy-style bar 1603, which conveniently has sake cocktails waiting to be mixed up for you. After stopping by for a drink and perhaps some spiced edamame, walk down the winding stairs to find the hidden restaurant.
The Japanese word izakaya means “stay-drink-place” and this stunning venue stays true to the name, in that it’s a choice spot for a drink and to settle in and get comfortable.
