Following a wildly successful pop-up late last year in Calamvale and due to popular demand, viral patisserie Koka is coming back for a limited time to Westfield Mt Gravatt!
If their desserts’ eye-catching colours don’t grab you, we’re sure their complex flavours, hidden behind a mouth-watering exterior made to look like realistic fruits, will captivate you. Each confection is handmade and takes days to perfect, as every element is made separately before carfully assembling the whole dessert.
These elaborate treats mimic a fruit — like mango, raspberry, lychee or even pecan and pistachio — whose flavour is also hidden in the layers inside. Known as trompe l’oeil (French for ‘deceives the eye’), the tricky desserts are filled with airy mousse tart fruit compotes and curds, plus a crunchy exterior that breaks up the creaminess.
At their previous pop-up, they took pre-orders, and it’s a safe bet they’ll do so this time around again. We definitely recommend pre-ordering if there’s one specific flavour you can’t miss, as they do run out, but you can always try your luck in-store. You can make pre-orders on their website, and it wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye on their Instagram to know when they become available.
If your mouth is watering already, you won’t have to wait very long: Koka is popping back up on Monday, August 24, and will only be around for a limited time, so don’t miss out!
