The warmer months mean more time outdoors, so the return of Live at South Bank comes at a perfect time. This March, South Bank Parklands will become the backdrop for two new music events, one of which you can sing along to your favourite Disney songs at.
Grab your picnic blanket, find a good spot on the lawn, and enjoy the uplifting energy these performances have to offer. Live at South Bank this year is slated to run on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5.
Kicking off the festivities is the musical theatre show Riverside Melodies from 10am – 1pm. If you’re a fan of Disney and Broadway, you can expect to hear a bunch of tunes from known and loved films and shows such as Matilda, Aladdin, The Sound of Music, Hairspray, Grease and Beauty and the Beast.
Toes will be tapping, and singing along is absolutely recommended at this free family-friendly event.
Then when golden hour hits, Sunset Opera will become centre stage for an outdoor serenade like no other. Glowing cityscape and river views included.
You can expect to see two half-hour performances on both the Saturday and Sunday evenings from a stellar lineup of singers from Opera Queensland.
Pop-up food stalls and a licensed bar will also be on site, so you can grab a feed and a drink while you enjoy a balmy evening by the river.
“There is so much to see and do in Brisbane and the return of the Live at South Bank program in 2023 is another fantastic experience for Brisbane residents and visitors,” said Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner. ““This great line up of free and low-cost performances will showcase a variety of musical entertainment for the community to enjoy in the beautiful surrounds of South Bank Parklands. There is no better place to be in Brisbane than outdoors and these events will offer something special for everyone to enjoy at South Bank.”
