Legendary trip-hop group Massive Attack is coming to Australia for the first time in 16 years! Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall will be in our country in August, following the release of their first new project in six years: Boots on the Ground, a collaboration with Tom Waits.
Pioneers of their genre, which blends hip-hop rhythms, soul samples and dub bass to create a darker sound, the Bristol group have sold more than 13 million albums worldwide, with their debut album, Blue Lines, considered one of the most influential albums of its time.
As Reddit user Acceptable-Owl3804 put it, “About damn time! One of the few bucket list acts I have left.”
The pair are also known for their activism, having been the first major act to pull their catalogue from Spotify as protest to founder Daniel Ek’s investment in a military AI company, and signed the No Music for Genocide initiative, in which artists and lables pulled their music from streaming services in Israel. In 2024, they hosted a one-day festival in their hometown, powered solely by renewable energy, as a reminder of climate change, and our shared environmental goals.
