One of Brisbane’s most popular CityCat terminals, Mowbray Park in Kangaroo Point, will re-open on December 9 after an eight-month upgrade. Not only that, but starting January 28, the service will include three faster KittyCats, ensuring better transport in the area, and a shorter wait.
In fact, due to the average of 60,000 passengers a month that used the Howard Smith Wharves terminal since it was first connected to the CityCat network in May, the services used to take 30-40 minutes, and are now expected to take half as much time, only 15 minutes. And, in line with the popular measure introduced earlier this year, passengers will still only be charged a 50-cent fare when they take a connecting ferry.
The upgrade is expected to include extensive landscaping, plus more accessible pathways and seating in Mowbray Park. Crucially, and in view of recent storms sweeping throughout Queensland, there is also a new flood-resilient walkway.
The new KittyCats will run between Maritime Museum and QUT Gardens Point, between Holman Street and Riverside and between the Dockside and Sydney Street terminals. And it’s good to be aware that CityCats will alternate stops between Apollo Road and Milton terminals, in both directions. You can consult the CityCat timetable here.
