But if you’re looking for a unique experience, one that transports you to the nineteenth century, while still maintaining that quintessential market vibe, Old Petrie Town Markets are where it’s at!
Set against a stunning historical backdrop, the market’s stalls offer a variety of handcrafted and vintage items, as well as trendy gourmet food and fresh produce. The icing on the cake? There’s roving minstrels livening up the atmosphere at this pedestrian-only town, making it feel like yesteryear.
Take the opportunity to explore the town’s historical shops as well, with everything from a cosy country café, a central barn with a huge offering of food from around the world, and even a clairvoyant and a vinyl shop.
If you’re feeling cultural after a day of shopping, drop by one of their many fascinating museums, like the Queensland Fire Museum and the Steam and Tractor Museum or, for something more local, the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, which explores the district’s historic character: the early timber-getters and industries, an 1890s school classroom, and life before electricity in an original farm workers cottage!

The Old Petrie Town Markets take place every Sunday from 7am to 1pm.
The vehicle entrance is off Dayboro Road, and there is plenty of free parking in the area.
Old Petrie Town is an easy 30-minute drive from Brisbane.
