When you think of overwater villas, the first places that come to mind are The Maldives, Fiji, and Bora Bora. Not Sandstone Point, which is just over an hour from Brisbane northbound. Sandstone Point Holiday Resort has announced the opening of six new luxury villas set on a swim-up dam. Honestly, sign us up.
Set to open at the resort in late 2023, these overwater abodes all have a 5000-litre heated plunge pool recessed into the deck and partially submerged in the lake, as well as an internal fireplace and three bedrooms for you and your gang to enjoy. Not to mention ladder access for when you want the shortest distance possible from the swimming hole to your accommodation.
Sandstone Point Holiday Resort plans to transform its on-site dam into a chemical-free swimming hole, which will be fully equipped with pumps and injectors to provide constant water flow and oxygen.
All resort guests can enjoy access to the swimming hole, not just those staying in the overwater villas. But hey, if you want to treat yourself to an overseas holiday without leaving Queensland, we vote to go for a stay in the villas.
Sandstone Point Holiday Resort is home to plenty of accommodation options, including safari glamping tents, as well as camping and caravan sites, making it a prime spot for holiday makers. Notably families on school holidays, as there’s plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied including a slip ‘n’ slide water park and pump track for scooters, bikes and skateboards as well as a jumping pillow, arcade room, tennis court, and giant chess board.
While it’s unclear when exactly the overwater villas will open up, you can sign up to this form on the resort’s website to join the waitlist.
