Ekka is already Brisbane’s most anticipated event of the year. But what if we told you there is a festival specifically for coffee lovers? For the sixth year, Passport Specialty Coffee is holding its Annual Filter Festival, and we’re already jittery with excitement!
This year’s event will be the roastery’s biggest to date — with over 500 people attending last year — and they’ll be serving up their signature coffee flight, that is four 100ml pours of specialty filter coffees from around the world, for just $30!
Each coffee is personally selected by the Passport team, ranging from higher end to more accessible, and takes the your palate on a journey through origin, processing method, and tasting notes. And you won’t want to miss it because no two years are the same.
But it’s not just coffee: alongside the coffee flights, local food trucks, freshly baked
pastries, and handcrafted sweet treats will join the lineup — bringing together Brisbane’s food and coffee culture into one community celebration.

Aaron McKenzie, the owner of Passport Specialty Coffee but it this way: “The Filter Festival has always been about showing Brisbane what filter coffee is truly capable of. Six years in, the community response still blows us away. This year we wanted to go further — better coffees, more flavours, and a real festival atmosphere with food and sweets alongside the coffee. It’s a celebration.”
By popular demand, Passport’s Cold Brew Soft Serve accompanied by delicious, flaky croffles will be back on the menu. The soft serve, churned from the roastery’s own cold brew concentrate, is a festival favourite year after year, and if you haven’t tried it, you’ll get a chance to see why.
And, if you fall in love with any — or all! — of the coffees you taste, we’ve got great news: all coffees featured will be available to purchase on the day! Plus, a curated selection of festival coffees will be available as freeze-packed parcels, sent straight to your door, in case you want to taste them for some time to come, or if you’re missing out on this year’s Filter Festival.
