Brisbane locals are in for a treat as a new comedy has opened at The Shed, one which will have you splitting your sides with laughter. Plied and Prejudice has been created by the team behind the hilarious seasonal production “A Very Naughty Christmas”, and is a new hysterical adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel. Bring your eligible bachelors and your unmarried daughters for an unhinged night of love, lust, and libations! The experience has proven so popular that Saturday matinee performances have been added and the run has been extended to October 6, so book your tickets now to enjoy this riotous marriage of classics and comedy.
Plied and Prejudice is an adult-only stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel. The production tells the beloved story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mister Darcy but with a lot more drinking and a lot less decorum… When you have five actors scrambling to play twenty characters in 80 minutes, it’s understandable that all notions of respectable theatre (and British etiquette) get thrown out the door.
See 1812 come to life with a few more cuss words than was socially acceptable at the time. Enjoy cocktails from the bar and see various characters from Regency England let loose on stage. With a different actor getting plastered each night, no two shows will ever be the same!
Get ready for all the highs and lows that Austen has to offer; from awkward proposals and scandalous elopements, to wet t-shirt contests (which we heard were quite popular in the 19th century). This show has everything an Austen lover could want, and a whole lot more. Performances run twice on Fridays (at 6:30 & 8pm), three times on Saturdays (at 1, 4, and 7pm), and twice on Sundays (at 1 & 4pm), with tickets starting from $59. Make sure to secure your tickets for this scandalous night of frivolity.
