We like gin, but we love when gin comes to us.
Hailing from the Noosa Hinterland, Pomona Distilling Co. has been welcoming Brisbane day-trippers to their small-batch boutique distillery with open arms since they opened. However, they’ve noticed that not everyone can make the trip up to see them and taste their artisan spirits in-house. So, they’ve now set up shop in the big smoke. Unfortunately, it ain’t forever, but there’s still time to pay them a visit.
Pomona’s summer pop-up gin bar can be found in an old woolshed in Teneriffe, where the crew have loaded up their rustic charm and, more importantly, their flavoursome botanical gin blends so that we city folk can sample their wares.
It’s not just straight liquor you’ll be drinking either, although you can be sipping on your very own Gin Tasting Paddle loaded up with Pomona’s organic botanical infused gin blends of Signature Dry, Pomona Pink and Butterfly-Pea Blue, which have all been hand-crafted up at the family’s nature reserve. Pop in after work and get your hands on one of the many delicious gin cocktails on offer including the Pomona Spritz, Espresso Martini, Spicy Señorita and the Southside. And if gin isn’t your thing, fear not, there’s more on offer.
Pomona’s gin pop-up is open from Thursday to Saturday from 3pm – 10pm and closes down on Saturday, December 19. However, they’ll be sticking around until December 24 for events, so if you haven’t got your festive functions sorted, this is your chance. For bookings, see here.
Once you’ve been to the pop-up, why not make the trip to Pomona and see the gin-making process in action? Their hand-crafted and heritage venue is stunning, and the back deck overlooking the garden will have you forgetting how many gins you’ve poured.
