Points, free flights and discounts are on offer.
As states around Australia race to reach vaccination targets, Qantas has announced a nationwide campaign, offering incentives to motivate people to get the jab. Starting Tuesday, August 24, Qantas will roll out its Covid-19 vaccination rewards campaign, giving Qantas members a choice of three different reward options.
Speaking to Today, Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce emphasised that getting vaccinated is the key to getting back to life as we once knew it.
“As the national carrier, we want to recognise those who have made the effort to protect themselves and the community.”
“Our crews can’t wait to get back to reuniting family and friends, taking people on holiday and putting some energy back into the whole tourism industry. For us, getting the vaccine rate up to 70 and 80 per cent means thousands of people can go back to work,” he added.
Starting tomorrow, as part of Qantas’s vaccination rewards campaign, if you’re a fully vaccinated, Australian-based Frequent Flyer, you can claim your reward via the Qantas app by choosing one of the following options:
- 1000 Qantas points
- 15 status credits and
- A $20 flight discount for Qantas or Jetstar
Members will then automatically enter a prize draw which includes several prizes including a year’s worth of free flights around Australia, fuel and accomodation among others. A winner will be selected from each state and territory and while only 10 members will win the mega draw, all vaccinated Australians will qualify for an award.
Qantas also recently announced that vaccines would be mandatory for all frontline staff from November.
Joyce added that for people with valid medical exemptions, Qantas is looking at ‘alternative mechanisms.’
All Australians aged 16-39 can now access the Pfizer vaccine. Find more information here.
