If you’ve ever played a game where someone in the group is secretly working against everyone else, you’ll know how quickly things can get tense (in the most entertaining way possible). That’s the premise behind Saboteurs, an immersive experience now open in Brisbane. Similar to the addictive gameplay of the beloved ‘Among Us’ phenomenon, but now a real-life adventure. Instead of sitting behind a screen trying to work out who the impostor is, you’re suddenly right there in the middle of the action. Our team headed along to try the Original Map session for ourselves, and before long the room was filled with suspicious glances, bold accusations, and plenty of laughter. Read on for our full review.

The entire Saboteurs venue is designed to feel like a futuristic spacecraft, instantly setting the scene for the mission ahead. After collecting your gear and receiving a quick rundown of how everything works, you’re introduced to the game mechanics while surrounded by sleek sci-fi details that make it easy to slip into character. There’s even a dedicated “Ghost Room” where players land after being eliminated—or dramatically “ejected into space”—complete with a leaderboard that tracks everyone’s performance. By the time the briefing wraps up, the competitive spirit is already building, and one question lingers in the air: who among you can actually be trusted?
Once you’ve mastered your laser-beam shooter, the doors open to the main map, a sprawling maze-like arena where the mission unfolds. At the beginning of each round, players are secretly assigned as either crewmates or impostors, and that’s when the nerves really kick in. Crewmates roam the moon-base environment tackling tasks at various stations, like watering plants, mining Moon Opals, tuning communications, or stabilising shields, while navigating areas such as the Medbay, Decontamination Unit and Sleep Pods. Completing these objectives sounds simple enough, until you realise anyone nearby could be the one trying to sabotage the mission. Meanwhile, impostors have an entirely different challenge: blending in, pretending to complete tasks, and choosing the perfect moment to strike without raising suspicion.

Things truly escalate when the group begins to debate who the saboteur might be. Crewmates must weigh up the evidence and vote out anyone they suspect, while impostors scramble to defend themselves and shift suspicion onto someone else. The rules are straightforward but brutal: if the number of impostors ever equals the number of crewmates, the impostors take the win. Add the live scoreboard into the mix and the energy ramps up quickly, turning each round into a lively blend of strategy, friendly rivalry and the occasional theatrical betrayal when someone realises they’ve backed the wrong teammate.

If you’re searching for something fun and a little different to do in Brisbane, Saboteurs is a fantastic pick. The experience is fast-moving, easy to grasp, and unpredictable enough that every round plays out differently. It’s also great for all kinds of groups—from friends and families to work teams or big celebrations—and the straightforward gameplay means players of all ages can jump in without missing a beat. Whether you end up secretly sabotaging the crew or desperately trying to reveal the impostor before it’s too late, it’s the sort of activity that will have everyone swapping theories and laughing about the chaos long after the mission is over.
