If your idea of a perfect night out involves a drink in one hand and a creative project in the other, you’ll want to clear your calendar. Dead Puppet Society has brought back its wildly popular, sold-out Sculptures & Sips workshops for 2026, inviting Brisbane creatives into their Fabrication Workshop for an experience that blends art, design and a little mechanical magic. Guided by Dead Puppet Society’s expert artisans, you’ll learn the fundamentals of creature design and laser-cut fabrication while creating a moving sculpture inspired by Australia’s native wildlife. Each of the three Sculptures & Sips workshops available guides you through creating a moving mechanical sculpture inspired by Australia’s native wildlife (and yes, you get to take it home). From a delicate Flapping Butterfly, to an intricate Mechanical Reef inspired by Australia’s famous coral seascapes, or a classic Flying Bird that captures the elegance of flight. Every session is hands-on, social and led by the very artisans who dream up the puppets and props for Dead Puppet Society’s acclaimed productions. No experience is needed—just curiosity, creativity and a willingness to give it a go.

More than just a workshop, Sculptures & Sips is a chance to slow down, meet fellow creatives and learn the behind-the-scenes magic of puppet design, all while enjoying a few drinks. Whether you’re an art lover, design enthusiast or looking for a new kind of hands-on activity, this is one experience that feels equal parts playful, inspiring and unforgettable.
