On August 3, two lucky groups of four people will be blue and yet happy all at the same time, because they’ll have a chance to join Airbnb’s Smurf Experience! With 80% of families, according to Airbnb’s research, choosing destinations based on an experience offered there, this is a no-brainer for those looking for an abluesolutely unforgettable trip!
Deep in the magical Belgian woods — the birthplace of the iconic blue characters — eight people will get to take part in Smurf-tastic activities inspired by the new film coming to cinemas this July at Papa Smurf’s adorable mushroom house and hosted by Nicolas Tygat, grandson of Smurfs creator Peyo.
Nicolas’ enthusiasm is palpable. As he puts it, “I grew up surrounded by the magic of the Smurfs, so to bring fans to Belgium, the birthplace of the Smurfs, and into the world that my Grandad created, is something truly special. This is a one-of-a-kind experience and I cannot wait to share this moment and our family stories with Airbnb guests.”
The 4-hour experience will see the two families embark on a series of delightful events, learning how to live like a Smurf, with no Gargamels in sight!

First up, it’s important to fuel up for a day of fun, so the guests will get to have the first-ever taste of a Smurfberry drink, a delicious purple berry refreshment beloved by Smurfs and said to be their primary source of energy.
Once properly nourished, you’ll get to make your own Smurf hat! Papa Smurf’s will show attendees how to customise their very own Smurf hats, which they’ll wear throughout the day so they can fit into the Smurfs’ world seamlessly. And, if they’re sneaky enough, they can even get a peek at Papa’s home while he’s busy.
It’s not all just fun and games though! You’ll get to try your hand out at a new and useful skill: archery. Outside the mushroom house and through the forest, you will get to explore the lush surroundings and practice your skill with a bow and arrow with the host.
Once ready for a break, guests will feast on a wholesome and delicious Smurf-inspired picnic, from blue Smurfberry cakes to French fries, which happen to be Smurfette’s favourite snack!
Finally, a Smurf-trained choreographer will teach the families a dance routine featured in the new film, so they can be the first to dance along with the characters, and the experience will end on a sweet note with Smurfberry ice cream!
