*Ding dong* Hello! We’re here to share the Good News: after an acclaimed return to Sydney this year, Tony Award-winning The Book of Mormon is coming to knock on our doors in 2026!
The hilarious play, penned by Trey Parker and Matt Stone — of South Park fame — has been making audienceslaugh until they cry since it premiered in 2011, and you can expect it at QPAC from July!
The star-studded cast includes incredible stage talent like Sean Johnston (“Hairspray”) as eager Elder Price, Nick Cox (“Beauty and the Beast”) as infuriating yet lovable Elder Cunningham, and Paris Leveque, who debuted in the role of Nabulungi in Australia. The cast is rounded out by other amazing performers, whose voices and comedic timing will make the approximately 2 and a half hour musical fly by!
The outrageous comedy follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, as they’re sent on a mission to Uganda, and they struggle with faith, doubt and what unites us beyond religion. This odd couple soon discovers they have a lot more to learn about the real world than they have to teach about Mormonism when faced with the harsh reality of life outside of their comfort zone, and with questions for which religion offers no easy answers.
Since its Broadway debut The Book of Mormon has been collecting accolades, winning 9 Tony Awards and a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, thanks to Parker, Stone and Robert Lopez, double EGOT-winner and co-writer of another notable satirical musical, Avenue Q.
If you won’t take our word for it, The New York Times called it “the best musical of this century.” The Washington Post said, “it is the kind of evening that restores your faith in musicals.” And Entertainment Weekly, “grade A: the funniest musical of all time.”
Although July is a ways away, you really won’t want to miss this, so sign up for the waitlist here!
