Queensland has been a leader in pushing for the recognition of Indigenous land rights and workplace rights and protections in the recent years. In harmony with these high-stakes cases that continue to shape the legal landscape of the capital of the state, the stakes couldn’t be higher at “The Jury Experience” in Brisbane. It’s a tension-packed live courtroom experience, where you hold the power to decide the case.
On selected dates over the coming months, the heritage-listed Old Museum Brisbane will be transformed into a realistic courtroom. Hear tear-jerking witness testimonies, intense cross-examinations and more! Places are limited so don’t miss Brisbane’s most intense legal drama, where you don’t just watch; you’ll be part of the case.
What is “The Jury Experience”?
“The Jury Experience” is a gripping theatrical event that blurs the line between performance and participation. For 60 nail-biting minutes, you’ll witness opening statements, dramatic testimonies, and passionate closing arguments, as professional actors bring to life a compelling legal battle. Unlike traditional theatre, you’re not just watching—you’re actively analyzing, questioning, and ultimately voting on the verdict.
What is the trial about?
The case examines the cutting-edge question of accountability in our increasingly automated world: when a self-driving car causes an accident, who bears responsibility? As autonomous vehicles transition from science fiction to everyday reality, this trial explores the complex intersection of technology, ethics, and law.
You’ll consider whether these vehicles truly deliver on safety promises and what happens when systems fail. During the trial, the lawyers will present competing narratives about where blame should lie—with the manufacturer’s design, the software developer’s code, the passenger’s oversight, or regulatory frameworks.
Tell me more about “The Jury Experience”
The setting plays a crucial role in the immersive nature of “The Jury Experience”, with the Old Museum Building transformed into an authentic courtroom environment complete with a judge’s bench, witness stands, and counsel tables. As the trial unfolds, participants aged 12 and above can explore questions of justice. Yyou’ll feel growing responsibility, perhaps changing your mind several times as new evidence emerges. When the final moment arrives, the collective audience decision determines the verdict.
The judge has overruled the defence’s objections. The defence have called the witnesses and these have sworn to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Now all that’s left is for you to carefully review every piece of the puzzle and prepare to deliver the verdict.
“The Jury Experience” will be held at Old Museum Brisbane, with two showings scheduled for 6:30pm and 8:30pm. The venue is wheelchair accessible at Zone A and B of the theatre.
