Love thrifting? A new player is about to enter the second-hand scene, joining the likes of Depop, eBay and your local op shop. European marketplace Vinted is launching in Australia on Wednesday, July 1. Search through the online marketplace and discover pre-loved fashion, homeware, electronics, kids’ items and more. They’ve also teamed up with Australia Post to make the shipping process smoother. To buy or sell something, you will need to download the Vinted app.

Vinted in Australia
Vinted was founded in Lithuania in 2008, and is now used by millions of people across over 25 countries in Europe and beyond.
“We’re on a mission to make second-hand the first choice,” said Adam Jay, CEO Vinted Marketplace. “In Europe we have already changed how people shop, by making it easy, reliable and affordable to choose second-hand. We’re excited to launch in Australia and offer an easier way to buy and sell between peers. Vinted exists to give unused items a second or even third life, and there’s a wealth of incredible items sitting in Australian homes right now.”
Here’s how it works

Selling
- Take a photo of your item, set a price and upload the listing on the app.
- Once the item sells, you’ll box it up, print off a prepaid shipping label and drop it off at Australia Post within five days.
- When the buyer confirms that the item is as expected, you’ll get paid. There are no selling fees, so you can keep what you earn.
Buying
- Browse through the app and find something that sparks joy.
- If you’ve got any questions, you can message the seller before you purchase.
- Pay with a bank card or by using Vinted balance.
- You’ll get an estimated delivery date and checkout, and you’ll be notified when an item has been posted.
There is a Buyer Protection fee for each order, which typically includes a percentage of the item’s price, as well as a fixed fee. This fee covers support for each purchase. Vinted will refund you if the item doesn’t arrive, gets damaged or is not as described.
