From Metung to Mornington Peninsula, and Hepburn Springs to Warrnambool, Victoria is lucky to be filled with an abundance of tranquil hot springs and spas to soothe weary travellers. And in just a few years, one iconic location is set to be home to Australia’s largest hot springs experience. Travel along the Great Ocean Road, and visit The 12 Apostles Hot Springs & Resort. Relax in geothermal waters, then stay the night in a luxury 150-room wellness resort. This massive project is set to open in 2026, and we’re absolutely adding it to our interstate bucket list.
The 12 Apostles Hot Springs & Resort
This luxurious experience will stretch over 79 hectares of land, and will draw its waters from approximately 1km below the ground. On top of the bathing, it will have multiple food and beverage outlets, as well as eco pods for you to stay the night.
“The idea of driving down the Great Ocean Road, arriving at The 12 Apostles and then very close by having an opportunity to explore a world-class facility that has geo-thermal bathing for nourishment, checking into a beautifully designed eco pod – I see this as being the premium bathing location in the country,” said Naomi Gregory, Founder & Principle Consultant at Spa Sessions, who has been involved in the project.
If the relaxing nature of thermal bathing isn’t enough to entice you, remember that soaking in hot springs has heaps of benefits for both your mind and your body. Bathing increases blood circulation, reduces stress, provides pain relief, promotes healthy skin and more.
This wellness destination has spent multiple years in development, and the team are targeting an opening date in 2026.
