When it comes to weekend getaways from Brisbane, we’re spoilt for choice with so many great options within driving distance. But some places really make your jaw drop and have you feeling like you’re on top of the world. Luxe Sunshine Coast hinterland retreat Petrichor Estate is one of those places, and they’ve launched a new offering for scenic escape seekers: a bubble dome atop a hill, that boasts unrivalled 360-degree vistas, from the Glass House Mountains to the sea.
Petrichor Estate is located on a 55-acre property near Maleny, around an hour and a half north of Brisbane. Prepare for a steep drive up to the property, where you’ll see the bubble dome and villa.
You have to book this stunning abode entirely, but that means you and seven others will have free reign of the property. The villa has three spacious rooms and its own infinity pool with a truly spectacular view. For special occasions, it takes ‘treat yourself’ to new heights.
At the moment, the addition of the bubble dome is included in the cost of the villa if it’s booked for 8 guests.
This geodesic dome is fitted out with all the luxuries of a king-sized bedroom, leading onto a raised deck, which is perfect for watching the sunrise.
To book the estate with the bubble dome included, you’re looking at $3,465 for two nights. But the accommodation sleeps eight people, so when divvied up, it only ends up being just over $200 per person, per night. Not bad at all for the location — you’ll just have to fight over who gets to sleep in the dome.
For more information, head to the Petrichor Estate website.
Hot tip: The property is located at 935 Bald Knob Rd, Bald Knob. We recommend entering the actual address into Maps rather than the name of the estate, as Google Maps doesn’t seem to take you to the front gate if you enter “Petrichor Estate” instead of the address.
