We in Brisbane are spoilt for choice when it comes to stunning hikes, which ironically can sometimes make it difficult to choose. So if you’re looking for a challenging, but very doable walk that offers jaw-dropping waterfalls, wildlife and lush nature, Twin Falls Circuit is the perfect fit.
Hidden in the lush rainforest of Springbrook National Park, this trail has been named one of the top spring hikes in QLD by AllTrails. The 4km loop descends into massive rock formations, gorgeous waterfalls, birdlife and spectacular views to Surfers Paradise in the distance to top off the stunning scenery to be found in the Gold Coast Hinterland.
A family-friendly loop, this trail is challenging enough to keep hikers of all ages entertained but is still safe for little ones to explore! The lively rainforest, majestic mountains and wildlife, especially birds, will keep your heads turning all along the way.
The route passes between palm trees and tree ferns, behind two waterfalls into rock crevices, and beneath towering brush box trees. Similar smooth pink barked trees in the park have been radio-carbon dated at 1500 years old, making them the oldest carbon-dated trees on mainland Australia!
Although it can be done anti- or clockwise, if you start anti-clockwise from Canyon Lookout, you’ll be able to follow the signs and even find out interesting information about the changing environment along the way. There’s also a picnic area, Tallanbana, where you can fuel up before the hike or wind down after your journey.
