Turns out a majority of the Brisbane slang is just doing what Australians are known for, which is shortening the names of places and things. But there are also a few surprising terms here that you might not have heard before.
The Valley = Fortitude Valley.
Brisvegas = Brisbane.
Brisneyland = Brisbane.
The Gabba = Woolloongabba.
Chermy = Chermside.
Cazza = Carindale.
The Goldie, Sunny Coast = Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast.
Togs = swimmers.
The Brown Snake = the Brisbane River.
Milton mango = XXXX beer, apparently due to its yellow-coloured can and brewing location of Milton.
Heading over to Straddy = heading over to Stradbroke Island.
Garbo = Garden City (Westfield Mt Gravatt).
Heading up the Bruce to Burps or Cabo = heading up the Bruce Highway to Burpengary or Caboolture.
